El Desafio de Arco Iris "Rainbow's Challenge"Catalan de Contrafuego x Martica La Estrella (5/97) |
14.3 hand bay gelding out of Startown Stables bred performance mare. He has a small star and loads of common sense, affection and brios. Elegant head and neck with SUPERB PRESENCE!! Desafio trailer loads and hauls super - he has been in a two horse slant, 2 horse straight, 3 horse slant, stock trailer and 5 horse - never has been an issue loading at all. He loves people and is looking for his 'special person'. Desafio handled the 2006-2009 Minnesota State Fair Aisle of Breeds with all the calmness you could ask for - and eagerly anticipated each new person's attention. Currently is doing fantastic on any trails we put him on and crosses any obstacle we ask of him - including traffic, mud, logs, water (running, lakes and puddles!) and bridges of many varieties... Desafio is our choice for inexperienced riders - he has patience, calmness and really tries to work with you as long as you are fairly clear in what you ask. He has a wonderful walk which can be rated from slow to fast depending on who you are riding with (always on a loose rein too!), a nice slow corto and smooth canter. Due to the fact he is used to set a good example for younger horses in training (or is being ridden by a novice) he has not had any time to learn the largo under saddle - so that needs to be worked on. Super with cars. A real sweetheart on picket lines, trailer tying, electric traveling paddocks or portable stalls.... pretty much deals with anything you ask him to. He will cross just about anything, with loads of common sense, and caution if it is called for, as long as you ASK and don't force. He has carried saddlebags and never given us any trouble.

Magico de Arco Iris"Rainbow's Magic"
Catalan de Contrafuego x La Preferida de Felicidad (1996) |
Sweet, loving, extremely well gaited and SMOOTH 14.2 bay gelding. Magico has "been there, done that"... from small shows to badlands riding! He is very easy to work with, loads and trailers like a dream. Magico will go wherever you point him and do it with a willingness and smoothness that will astound you! He is VERY light on the bosal (does not need a bit at all). Will tie on picket line, stand at park tie outs, stay in a single wire portable fence....+++ Magico will cross anything you ask him to; including bridges, water crossings, mud, downed trees +++ (We have not found anything that he will not do if asked). He is very easy to ride alongside a busy road or with strange dogs. Walks on a loose rein and will stay in gait, at the requested speed without constant 'holding' on the reins. Refined head and neck just brings this package together. Magico loves people and is looking for his 'special person'. He has helped us out at the Minnesota State Fair Aisle of breeds many times - with all the calmness and friendliness you could ask for. Magico NEEDS a rider whom has light hands - if he gets a lot of pressure from the reins he will bump his nose out to ask for "release" of the pressure (understandable I believe!). When he trusts you to only use the signals you need, vs hang on with the reins, he is very enjoyable and does not bump his nose out.
For a short (and unfortunately not professional!) video of Magico.

El Guerrero de CatalanCatalan de Contrafuego x Campesina de Ranchochico (6/2002) |
14.3 hand chestnut gelding. Guerrero is one handsome young man! He has been trailered between the Plymouth and Rogers farms and has been quite the gentleman for each trip. He is a people pleaser and always attracts visitors with his style, fiery chestnut color, Brios and affection. Guerrero is ready to start under saddle (I am a few years behind with the training due to work load). Halters and leads well. Trailers well. Excellent for shots, worming and farrier. Should be a breeze to train.
